THE EPISCOPAL CHURCH
Sunday Worship 9:30am About the Episcopal Church ....
What to expect when you visit an Episcopal Church Book of Common Prayer, which enables the congregation to share fully in every service. There is also a Hymnal. You may notice that people seem to stand and sit and kneel without warning. The general rule is to stand to sing, to say the Creeds, and for the reading of the Gospel. We stand or kneel for prayer. We sit for other scripture readings and for the sermon. If all this sounds confusing, the visitor may solve the problem as the down-East sea captain is supposed to have done: he said, "I just dropped anchor and fell and rose with the tide." The principal service is the Holy Eucharist (Holy Communion). Page numbers printed in the service bulletin refer to the Book of Common Prayer and the Hymnal. All baptized Christians are welcome to receive communion. You will find the services of the Episcopal Church beautiful in their ordered dignity, God-centered, and yet mindful of the nature and needs of human beings. When you visit an Episcopal Church you are our respected and welcome guest. You will worship God with us. You will not be singled out in an embarrassing way. Should you wish to know more about the Episcopal Church or St. Marys, the pastor will gladly answer your questions. and the Hymnal. All baptized Christians are welcome to receive communion.
